KUALA TERENGGANU, May 14 (Bernama)– The Wildlife and National Parks Department seized body parts of various wild animals following the arrest of two male tourist guides in Hulu Terengganu Thursday.
State Wildlife Director Rozidan Md Yasin said the men, aged 44 and 52, were arrested in raids conducted at the same time at their respective houses in Kuala Berang and Kampung Jenagor at 7.15am.
He said the two men were believed to have conducted poaching activities in the Tembat forest reserve area, near the Hulu Terengganu elephant sanctuary.
We managed to get them after a few days of surveillance and with information from the public, he told reporters here Thursday.
Rozidan said the animal body parts which were seized included those of deer, porcupines, heads of two mouse-deer, skins and meat of the affected animals.
