KUALA TERENGGANU (NST): Nineteen Vietnamese fishermen, including five teenagers, in two vessels were nabbed by the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency for encroaching on Malaysian waters on Tuesday.
Following a tip-off from the public, the suspects, aged between 16 and 35, were caught trawling just 37 and 53 nautical miles from here.
Agency officials also seized 500kg of catch worth RM2,500.
Kuala Terengganu Maritime Enforcement Agency chief Syd Mohd Fuzi Syd Hasan said initial investigations revealed that the two trawlers were at sea for two to three months before they were nabbed.
The suspects will be charged next week with fishing illegally in Malaysian waters.
