KUALA TERENGGANU: A clerk who was believed to be chasing two snatch thieves crashed into two cars in an accident which has left her in a coma.
Nurul Fatimah Ali is in serious condition.
Nurul Fatimah Ali, 19, from Kampung Pulau Ketam, was seen riding her bike against the flow of traffic on the Sultan Mahmud bridge when she suffered the horrific crash which has left her with head injuries and a broken arm.
Witnesses told police her motorcycle grazed a Proton Savvy before it skidded and crashed head-on into a Proton Iswara.
The impact threw her off her machine. She was rushed to Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital where she remains in serious but stable condition in the intensive care unit.
State Public Order and Traffic acting chief Deputy Superintendent Nor Azmi Isa said police are looking for witnesses to assist in investigations.
Car drivers Mohd Zulkarnain Omar, 27, from Kampung Gelam, Mengabang Telipot, and Wan Sumah Wan Ngah, 52, from Kuala Terengganu, escaped unhurt.
