KUALA TERENGGANU (NST): Newly-elected MP Mohd Abdul Wahid Endut can finally look forward to some rest after a gruelling campaign, in which the vote banks for Pas and the Barisan Nasional hardly budged.
During the 10-day campaign period, Wahid Endut, who is also the Pas Wakaf Mempelam assemblyman, said he made do with an average of only two hours’ sleep every night as he worked to break the Barisan Nasional’s support in the parliamentary seat.
“I did not expect a majority of over 2,600. Based on previous results in other areas, we estimated a majority of 2,400. ”
He said a post mortem would be conducted to find out why there was a drop in votes from his state constituency.
He said he would still serve as state assemblyman.
“I do not want to be a fine-weather assemblyman, who only meets the rakyat during an election. We must always be ready,” he said in Rusila yesterday.
